Tips:  Look Your Best At Competition
  
1. All dancers should have the same make-up and hair styles, unless they are performing a piece that requires different make-up and hair styles.
2.  All dancers should wear the same costumes, tights and shoes, if appropriate.  Check to make sure that the shade of the tights and shoes is the same throughout the group!  Otherwise, it should be obvious that the dancers are purposefully wearing different costumes and shoes. 
3.  Be creative with costumes and hairstyles (make sure they're secure!).  Rhinestones may be glued to hair with eyelash glue for a glamourous effect. 
4.  All costumes and tights should be clean, or it should be obvious that they have been purposefully dirtied. 
5.  Gel should be used on hair that is pulled back. Fly-away hairs are magnified onstage. 
6.  Dancers should wear fake-eyelashes.  Stage lighting combined with your distance from the audience makes it necessary to accentuate your features. 
7.  Bring a sewing kit to competition, in case costumes rip or straps break. 
8.  Have Extras of Everything!  Eyelashes, shoes, tights, make-up, and so on. 
9.  Have students wear a studio warm-up suit or jacket.  This presents your studio professionally and helps to define your group as a team. 
10.  Dancers should be tan, if possible.  The more uniform the dancers look, the better.  Also, tans look healthy and nice on stage.
11.  Wear appropriate undergarments. Underwear/bra lines should not be visible!! Wear underwear that is the same or a similar color as your costume, in case your pants split.  Flesh-colored leotards and/or underwear sets are also handy.  See-through straps are available for costumes with spaghetti straps. 
12.  Remove all nail polish and jewelry before you go onstage!
